The waterless CTP plate is fully compatible with thermal CTP output. It is compatible with thermal CTP platesetters from all manufacturers, and, like the analog type, it completely eliminates the use of dampening solution during printing, thus achieving outstanding consistency of quality.
The Toray waterless CTP plate involves no preheating or post-baking, giving it a durable life of over 100,000 copies as well as UV ink compatibility. This also makes it more suitable than wet PS plates to high-resolution printing, FM screen printing, and other forms of high-quality image reproduction.
Waterless printing, whose deep-etch plate structure reduces the fluctuation of dot gain, achieves faithful reproduction of the calibration data settings. This makes it easy to adjust the dot gain curve to match the target and realizes consistency in the reproduction quality of dots.
Because CTP allows complete control of the dot gain curve, ink consumption is reduced and there is no show-through due to oversupply of ink. This can deliver large benefits in particular for ink mileage in web offset printing. Creation of tone harmony with wet printing is also easy to perform. Because the extent of dot gain is small with waterless plate printing, there are few factors able to cause fluctuation, creating a worry-free operating environment.
Toray’s waterless CTP plate is compatible with other manufacturers’ thermal platesetters.
